New Release (Feb. 24): Skold vs. KMFDM

Guitarist Tim Skold reunites with ex-bandmate Sascha Konietzko to produce yet another ear-splitting industrial rock album, Skold vs. KMFDM. "Bloodsport" and "Love is Like" -- the two tracks released thus far -- are prime examples of why KMFDM has remained one of the most celebrated alternative acts since its inception in 1984. Like Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy and other "mainstream" industrial groups, KMFDM uses a variety of thrashing guitars, ascending synths and pulse-pounding electronic drums to create what it affectionately refers to as "the Ultra Heavy Beat." The addition of Skold -- who played guitar for KMFDM before parting ways and joining shock-rocker Marilyn Manson -- brings back fond memories of the "Anarchy" era, and should make Skold vs. KMFDM one of 2009's best-selling industrial albums. The joining is not permanent, however; KMFDM will release its own new release, Blitz, later this year. Stay tuned for more on that front!
